what is communication? |

Everything in your environment communicates with you through your physical senses, your emotions, your mind, and your spirit. We are bombarded constantly with a huge amount of information; we learn to filter out or regulate our subconscious mind and autonomic nervous system what is not important or does not demand our immediate attention. |

The keyboard I'm using right now to type this in essence is "communicating" to me through my fingers it's texture, hardness, color, and keyclick sounds. I can walk into a room, make eye contact with a total stranger, and have an instant sense of knowing, warmth, and liking towards them. That person and I have communicated with each other without speaking a word to one another. I know when my best friend is having a tough time; I get a "feeling" that something is wrong, and I call her. She does the same with me. We unconsciously communicate our distress and need for support to each other on an emotional and telepathic level. Most people have had this type of experience with a friend or family member. |

What has this got to do with animal communication? Our companion animals - whether they be dogs, cats, horses, goats, cows, reptiles, fish, birds, or hamsters - communicate with us on many levels every day. My cat Nate likes to jump on my lap when I'm watching TV. I automatically begin petting him when he does. He has communicated to me that he wants some affection from me by jumping on my lap and lying down. I understand, and respond by stroking his head and body. He then communicates that I've understood him by purring. I like that, it's a very comforting sound. Nate and I have communicated on several levels here - physically through touch, feeling his body warmth in my lap, hearing his purring. Nate also loves chicken. When I fix my lunch in the morning, I will suddenly get this very intense feeling of hunger. I look down, and there is Nate, projecting his hunger to me so that I will feed him some of my lunchmeat. He's very good at communicating telepathically when it comes to food! |

In summary, animal communication is all about listening to animals with all the tools I have available to me - eyes, ears, nose, skin, taste, feelings, and telepathic communication. In most cases, animals are very willing to communicate with us in whatever way they can... through behavior, physical expression, sound, emotions, and telepathically. I have "talked" to animals all my life - as an animal communicator, I have had to learn to be quiet and listen to them! |
